Frequently Asked Questions
How do online lessons work?
Our lessons are conducted via video call, using platforms like Zoom or FaceTime. Before each lesson, you’ll receive links to any necessary materials, and during the lesson, Lauren will provide real-time feedback, just like in an in-person session.
What do I need for an online lesson?
A reliable internet connection
Zoom account
A computer or tablet with a camera and microphone
It is also recommended* to have a second device for viewing digital sheet music and resources. (*This is required for voice students.)
A quiet, well-lit space free from distractions
For piano students, an acoustic piano or a digital keyboard with 88 weighted keys is essential for effective practice and lesson participation.
Additionally, having a stand for sheet music and a bench or chair at the correct height will ensure proper posture and technique.
How are lesson times scheduled?
We offer flexible scheduling options to fit your family’s needs. Lessons are available in 30- or 60-minute slots and can be booked in advance using our online scheduling system through Fons.
What if I have to cancel a lesson?
To ensure smooth operations and fairness to all students, Joyful Noise Studio does not offer makeup lessons. Instead, we provide asynchronous support tailored to each student's needs and situation. No need to find another day and time to attend in your busy schedule—and you can keep learning on your “week off.” It’s a win-win!
What if I need help between lessons?
We’re here to support you every step of the way. You can email or call anytime with questions about practice assignments, technical issues, or anything else that comes up between lessons.
